October to November 2026, group project for NTU’s SC4055 Quantum Computing module
Banks price options with Monte Carlo simulation, whose error shrinks like 1/√M in the number of samples. Quantum amplitude estimation (QAE) estimates the same value with error shrinking like 1/M, a quadratic speedup. This project tests that claim in simulation.
- Implemented iterative and canonical QAE to price European call options, and benchmarked them against maximum-likelihood QAE and classical Monte Carlo.
- Reproduced iterative QAE’s quadratic speedup in simulation and measured its cost: canonical QAE needed circuits about 20 times deeper.
